My Ideal Soil Mix for Succulents and Cacti
When it comes to growing healthy succulents and cacti, soil mix plays a crucial role in ensuring strong root development and preventing issues like rot. My preferred soil mix consists of Kanuma and pumice in a 2:3 ratio, with a grit size of 1-3mm. This combination provides excellent drainage, aeration, and a stable environment for root growth.
Why This Soil Mix?
Kanuma (2 parts) - Kanuma is a lightweight, porous volcanic soil commonly used for acid-loving plants.
It retains just enough moisture while ensuring good aeration, reducing the risk of overwatering.
It breaks down slowly, maintaining soil structure over time.
Pumice (3 parts) - Pumice is a highly porous volcanic rock that enhances drainage.
It improves root oxygenation, preventing root rot and fungal issues.
It provides stability for plant roots, helping them anchor properly.
